There were discussed issues of supporting the national statistical system

On November 14, 2018, a dialogue was held in Bishkek on the topic: “Qualitative and reliable data for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”. The event was organized by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic with supporting of the World Bank in the frame of the project “Implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics”.

The purpose of the event was to build a platform to discuss issues of supporting the national statistical system of the Kyrgyz Republic in its efforts to transform the institutional environment, integrate and modernize the processes of generating statistical data for all branches of statistics in order to effectively and timely meet user needs, as well as eliminate duplication and harmonization of measures conducted by development partners.

The round table was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration, Government Office, Parliament, ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic and international organizations.

The participants of the discussion were presented information on the activities of the national statistical system and key events, such as the implementation of the national strategy for the development of statistics, the implementation of the new Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On official statistics, the implementation of the system and reporting of the Sustainable Development Goals, information on the preparation and conduct of the next round of population and housing censuses of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2020, as well as the current situation of the IT infrastructure of the National Statistics Committee.

In general, the work of the round table was successfull, a resolution will be drawn up based on the results of studying the proposals and wishes of the participants.
