Experts Meeting of Statistical Offices of the CIS Member States

Meeting of experts of the statistical offices of the CIS countries on improving agricultural statistics is being held in Bishkek, from September 3 to 5, 2019: issues of monitoring food security, creating food balance sheets and sharing experience on organizing agricultural statistics.
On the first day of work, it is expected to consider the methodological aspects of the formation of a system of indicators for monitoring and evaluating food security in the CIS countries, taking into account indicators of achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Experts from the CIS Statcommittee, as well as the chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on statistics, will speak on this topic.
In addition, issues related to the formation of balances of the most important types of food, as well as the organization of interaction of national statistical services with national ministries and departments will be considered. Speeches by representatives of the CIS Statistical Committee and the statistical offices of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan are planned on these issues.
During the second day of the meeting, the discussion of the problems of forming the balances of the most important types of food will continue. Further consideration of this issue will be attended by representatives of the statistical services of the Republic of Tajikistan, Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.
