A. Sultanov participates in the work of the 50th anniversary session of the UN Statistical Commission

Chairman of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Sultanov participates in the work of the annual Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, which is taking place these days in New York (USA).
The UN Statistical Commission, organized in 1947, is the supreme body of the global statistical system. It brings together the top statisticians of member countries from around the world. It is the highest decision-making body in the field of international statistical activities, as well as in the area of setting statistical standards, developing concepts and methods, and implementing them at the national and international levels. This year, the Statistical Commission is celebrating its 50th anniversary session.
During the session on March 6, A. Sultanov in his speech noted that Kyrgyzstan supports activities and initiatives aimed at the early implementation of the 2008 System of National Accounts standards, in particular, work aimed at strengthening statistical capacity and developing methodological guidelines for compiling national accounts and preparing satellite accounts. He also outlined the importance of the initiative to support the implementation of the 2008 SNA for lagging countries.
A. Sultanov thanked the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund for their support in conducting experimental calculations and developing a number of methodological provisions on indicators affecting the volume, growth rate and structure of GDP.
Speaking on industry statistics A. Sultanov, noted that Kyrgyzstan welcomes the UNIDO report on industrial development on industry statistics. He stressed the importance of developing industrial statistics for analyzing the entire economy of Kyrgyzstan and increasing the potential in the field of industrial statistics to obtain high-quality, reliable and up-to-date data for monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals.
By the evening, Akylbek Sultanov took part in the working meeting of the heads of the national statistical services of the Eurasian Economic Union member states on the sidelines of the 50th session of the UN Statistical Commission in the Permanent Representation of the Russian Federation to the United Nations.
The working meeting of the heads of the national statistical services of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union reviewed the status of implementation of instructions from the working meetings, the main tasks and priorities of the Integration Development Program in the field of statistics of the Eurasian Economic Union for 2021-2025, the methodology for forming official statistical information of the Eurasian Economic Union Union and other issues.
