Today, April 18, in the conference hall of The Plaza Hotel, a round table was held to discuss the draft law "On official statistics", organized by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The event was attended by representatives of government bodies, the public, concered parties and an international expert who provides advisory support in drafting the bill.
Chairman of the National Statistical Committee Akylbek Sultanov noted innovations in the draft law, such as the new system of official statistics, the fundamental principles of the UN in the field of statistics, the open policy of the National Statistical Committee, the involvement of civil society in the work of the Council on Statistics.
Presenting the presentation to the participants of the event, Interregional Advisor on Organization and Management of National Statistical Systems in the United Nations Statistical Office, Gabriel Gamez gave detailed explanations of the main points of the Draft Law "On Official Statistics" and answered the participants' questions.
There was also noted that the Law "On Official Statistics" aims to improve the quality and reliability of official statistics, which is an important tool for making policy decisions based on evidence, as well as ensuring transparency and accountability in economic and social reform processes, and allows individuals , who make political decisions, develop the necessary strategies, monitor and objectively assess the results of their activities.
Following the discussion of the new version of the law, the Round Table participants recommended that the National Statistical Committee carry out work on the further promotion of the bill for subsequent approval, taking into account the opinions and proposals expressed during the discussion.
